Laboratory Overview
The human brain functions as a system that can flexibly adapt to the environment. We aim to investigate the function of the brain, particularly the visual system, and to elucidate spatial perception, object recognition, and attention-based selection mechanisms through vision. We also attempt to construct a model of visual function, and consider methods of evaluating visual environments and displays, as well as methods of presenting information suited to human vision.
Our laboratory focuses on research into early and mid-stage visual processing, such as stereoscopic perception, motion perception, and color vision, as well as the construction of quantitative models, and research into information selection through visual attention and eye movements in higher-level visual processing. We also conduct research into human visual recognition and reaction prediction in various environments.
